According to research by social psychologist David McClelland of Harvard, the people you habitually associate with determine 95% of success or failure in your life. 

Side note: remember that you can find research to confirm just about any belief, but this one sounds really legit, right? A Dr. at Harvard. Am I right? 

Jim Rhone, entrepreneur, author, and motivational speaker, also said that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. 

So, if you want to be more success conscious and more successful, start hanging around more success conscious people. By the way, this also pertains to people you are hanging out with online too. 

Often, we may not be entirely conscious about this, so start becoming more aware of the interactions you have with the people you spend the most time with, including family, friends, and co-workers. 

Are most of your interactions and conversations positive, or is there more negative than good? 

If it’s a family member bringing you down, and you don’t want to cut off communication with them, be intentional about how much time you spend with them (on the phone, in-person, and social media). 

Think of quality over quantity. If the relationship feels really challenging, don’t just default to that person in your life. Expand your relationships so that they encompass people who bring positivity, inspiration, and joy to you.
